clarification on different methods to sync calendars

Post by laavista » Wed May 06, 2015 6:27 pm

I need clarification on the different methods to sync calendars between computers.

Are the following methods and what's used to 'connect' correct?:

* Exchange server

* through Google calendars (MySQL not needed?)

* via local network (using MySQL?)

Hi laavista, VueMinder can sync calendars through Exchange Server, through Google Calendar, or through MySQL Server. If syncing through Exchange Server or Google Calendar, there's no need to also sync with MySQL Server. Just configure each computer to sync with the same calendar located on Exchange Server or Google Calendar. Any changes made on one computer will appear on the other computers, just like when syncing through MySQL Server (except it might take a few seconds longer for the changes to appear).

Here are links to more documentation for each of the syncing methods described above:
Sync with Exchange Server
Sync with Google Calendar
Sync with MySQL Server

There's also a "low tech" option of syncing directly with iCalendar (ics) files located on your local network or an FTP server. To enable this type of syncing, check the "Sync with file or URL (2-way)" box on the Sync tab of the Calendar Properties, and enter a file path on your local network or URL to a file on an FTP server.
