Opening calendar over network
Opening calendar over network
Hi Dan,
I've put a Windows 7 64-bit machine and an XP Pro 32-bit machine onto WORKGROUP and tried sharing two calendars from the Win 7 machine over the network. Disaster! VueMinder Calendar on the XP machine utilizes 96-100% of that machines anaemic single core processor and effectively kills the machine and on the Win 7 machine VueMinder Calendar hogs one of two cores full-time. I've gone through a myriad of suggestions for tweaking Win 7 networking but it hasn't helped.
For now, I've disabled sharing and simply export the calendars to .ics and transfer them that way.
Is this a known VueMinder Calendar issue?

Re: Opening calendar over network
Hi Darwin, this is a known problem in 7.3.0. It usually happens when syncing large calendars with many events. This has been corrected for the next version. A pre-release beta is available, if you'd like an early look. If you try the beta and still notice a performance problem, please let me know. I've tested it on my network with around 4000 events syncing. It takes a little while for the calendar to initially sync, but after that there's no noticeable performance issue.

Beta Redirect does not appear to work for me.

I'm loving this beta! The word wrap feature in the desktop calendar is worth it alone...
Regarding networking, I can confirm that the behaviour I reported earlier has been corrected!

Hi Darwin, thanks for the update. I'm glad to hear it's working now. I'm planning on making the release official next week - just need to do some final testing!
